HP Cabinet Unveils Key Welfare and Development Measures

In a meeting chaired by CM Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet took several key decisions aimed at boosting disaster relief, healthcare, education, law enforcement, and social welfare:

Disaster Relief & Compensation:

  • Compensation for loss of household items in disasters increased from ₹70,000 to ₹1 lakh.

  • Special assistance of ₹7 lakh for families facing complete house damage due to fire.

  • ₹4.32 crore allocated to the Air Force for helicopter services during disasters.

  • Approval for construction of retaining walls up to ₹2 lakh per individual.

Employment & Rural Development:

  • Provision of 150 days of employment under MNREGA.

  • Reorganization of Panchayats and development blocks in Hamirpur.

Healthcare & Medical Education:

  • Engagement of 1,000 Rogi Mitras for better patient care.

  • Creation of 9 super-specialty departments at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, with 73 posts.

  • 27 Senior Resident posts in Super Specialty Department at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.

Police & Fire Services:

  • 800 new constable posts approved.

  • New sub-fire stations at Kandaghat (Solan) and Rajgarh (Sirmaur) with 46 posts and four fire tenders.

  • New police post at Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Ner Chowk.

  • Expansion of Digital Forensic Facility in Dharamsala and purchase of 10 electric bikes for highway patrolling.

Education & Skill Development:

  • Conversion of Government College Hamirpur into a dedicated Science College and launch of integrated B.Ed. (B.Sc.) programme.

  • New integrated B.Ed. and B.P.Ed. courses at multiple colleges.

  • Expansion of Fine Arts courses and a new Fine Arts College at Haripur Guler.

  • Approval for DPC to promote 805 Principals.

Social Welfare & Economic Measures:

  • Extension of social security pensions to persons with 40%+ disability, removing prior restrictions.

  • 40% subsidy for converting 1,000 taxis to electric under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna 2023.

  • Expansion of Mukhya Mantri Laghu Dukandar Kalyan Yojna to support urban small vendors and shopkeepers.

Other Key Decisions:

  • Reorganization of Kanungo circles in Kangra district.

  • Authorization for Forest Department to issue mineral concessions on forest land.

  • Merger of Anti-Narcotics Task Force with Special Task Force and launch of panchayat-wise Anti-Chitta campaign.

These decisions mark a significant step toward strengthening disaster response, improving public services, and promoting social welfare across Himachal Pradesh.
