Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Nardev Kanwar announced that financial assistance totaling ₹20.61 crore will be distributed to 4,967 eligible construction workers and their families across 14 welfare schemes on August 15, 2026. Speaking at a press conference, Kanwar stated that the state government has already disbursed nearly ₹95 crore over the past three and a half years to support the state’s 4,84,860 registered workers. Looking ahead, the Board has set a target to distribute ₹300 crore in the coming year to extend benefits to a broader section of eligible construction workers.
Emphasizing transparency and accountability, Kanwar highlighted that the Board recently conducted 98,000 E-KYC verifications to eliminate ineligible beneficiaries from its roster. He alleged that roughly 70,000 ineligible workers were registered during the previous BJP tenure in 2021–22, receiving approximately ₹176 crore within nine months. Following the E-KYC cleanup, the Board is now utilizing Direct Benefit Transfers via RTGS to ensure financial aid reaches genuine workers directly and without delay.
Under the current disbursement, the Education Assistance Scheme received the highest priority with ₹7.89 crore earmarked for 2,788 beneficiaries, followed by the Marriage Assistance Scheme with ₹8.98 crore allocated for 1,758 beneficiaries. Additional allocations include ₹1.49 crore for Death and Funeral Assistance, ₹89.77 lakh for the CM/PM Awas Yojana, ₹61 lakh for single, deserted, or disabled women, and ₹38.02 lakh for maternity and paternity benefits. District-wise, Hamirpur leads with 1,298 beneficiaries receiving ₹5.43 crore, followed by Kangra (₹2.89 crore), Mandi (₹2.80 crore), and Una (₹2.52 crore), alongside beneficiaries across Shimla, Sirmaur, Chamba, Bilaspur, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Solan.
