HPKVN Playing Commendable Role in the Implementation of Skill Development Activities

Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (HPKVN) established by the State Government is implementing several ambitious schemes for skill development of youth and to motivate them towards self-employment. HPKVN is doing commendable work for coordinating, implementing skill activities, technical vocational and educational training. HPKVN’s main objective is to consolidate technical, vocational education and trainings (TVET), development of quality skill training infrastructure, demand driven skill training for youth of the state and to provide 100 per cent cost free training to the Himachali youth. To save young generation from the catastrophe of unemployment Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation is proving a boon for the youth of the state and has been phenomenal with its people centric framework.

Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation is providing various types of training to the youth through various training centers in the state including self-employment based professions like plumber, fitter, barber, tourism guide, agriculture and horticulture based self employment opportunities. Youth are becoming a source of inspiration for other youth along with strengthening their economy after getting training in these employable professions. In order to make the youth aware about the training programs and other activities of HPKVN, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur flagged off the corporation’s awareness vehicle ‘Kaushal Vikas Rath’ from Shimla on 5th May, 2022. Through this, awareness programs are being organized at educational institutions and prominent places across the state.

HPKVN is providing training through various offerings. So far 49,727 candidates have got enrolled in short term trainings and out of trained 32296 candidates 20907 have got certified. Bachelor of Vocation is a three year degree programme in collaboration with department of Higher Education where the training is being provided in retail, tourism and hospitality. In this course so far 4621 candidates have been enrolled and 576 candidates got certified. Graduate Add -On Programme provides opportunity for acquiring domain and employability skills for final year graduating students in more than 25 Government Degree Colleges across the state where nationally recognized National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) certificate is being provided to all the successful candidates. So far 6233 candidates enrolled themselves in this programme. Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with 9 different central and state Government institutions with a target to train candidates in high industry demand courses. So far 6233 candidates have enrolled themselves under this program.

Any person who is not enrolled in ITI can join HPKVN sponsored short term training in ITIs. It provides free of cost NSQF aligned short term 3 to 6 months training in 38 Government ITIs across the state. Trainings under ITIs are optimized for upskilling, multiskilling and enhanced employability of students. So far 10413 students have enrolled themselves under it. HPKVN is also implementing Centrally Sponsored and State Managed Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in the state where skill training in multiple job oriented sectors have been provided to the youth. It also provides placement assistance to the certified candidates. As many as 16375 candidates have been enrolled under this scheme. For the purpose of skill development of the differently-able people of the state, Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam is also running a special campaign “Navdharna” through which the differently-able people of the state will be given employment oriented training in the field of tourism and hospitality sectors. Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation is not only qualitatively improving the employability of the youth of the state through skill training, but is also empowering them to become self-reliant.
