The Himachal Pradesh government has digitized its apple procurement operations through the HPMIS portal, introducing end-to-end transparency under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS). Over 8,000 MT of apples have been procured so far, with more than 17,000 growers registered on the platform. Procurement is currently active across 213 collection centers managed by HPMC and HIMFED through October 31, 2026.
Available on iOS and Android, the HPMIS portal streamlines farmer registration, digital receipts, transportation, and payments. Registration is a one-time process—growers enrolling this season will only need to notify their designated collection center online in future years. Farmers can register independently or through local Gram Panchayats and Lok Mitra Kendras, including 681 centers operating in Shimla district alone.
The digital system eliminates administrative delays and paper receipts. Crop quantities are logged electronically at collection centers, and instant e-receipts are sent to farmers’ registered mobile numbers. Eligible payments are credited directly to verified bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), eliminating repeated visits to government offices. The system also enables real-time tracking across state processing facilities at Parala, Parwanoo, and Jadol.
Apple cultivation accounts for 80% of Himachal Pradesh’s total fruit production, with the state supplying 22% of India’s national apple output. Shimla leads regional yield at 55%, followed by Kullu, Kinnaur, and Mandi.
CM Sukhu stated that safeguarding growers’ interests remains a primary commitment. He emphasized that the MIS portal prevents market gluts, supports fruit processing, and ensures timely, transparent payouts to farmers across the state.
