CM Sukhu on Tuesday inaugurated a new branch of the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (HPSCB) at Kaithu, reinforcing the State Government’s commitment to expanding the cooperative banking network and promoting financial inclusion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said cooperative banks play a crucial role in the socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh, especially in empowering farmers, small traders, self-help groups and rural entrepreneurs. He reiterated the government’s resolve to strengthen cooperative institutions and emphasized that State Government deposits should be routed through HPSCB to further enhance its financial stability and sustainability.
Sukhu praised the performance of HPSCB for successfully blending modern, technology-driven banking services with its core mission of serving the common people. He expressed confidence that the newly opened Kaithu branch would effectively meet the financial needs of the local population and contribute to regional economic growth.
The Chief Minister noted that HPSCB has been playing a key role in the implementation of various State Government initiatives, including the e-taxi scheme, ensuring timely delivery of financial benefits to beneficiaries.
On the occasion, HPSCB presented a cheque of Rs. 2 crore to the Chief Minister Relief Fund. Expressing gratitude, Sukhu said the contribution would help the government provide relief to people in distress and respond effectively to natural calamities and emergencies.
Managing Director of HPSCB, Shravan Manta, highlighted the bank’s achievements and informed that it has consistently strengthened its financial position, expanded its branch network and adopted digital banking solutions to enhance customer convenience.
