HPSDMA – New Guidelines for Disaster-Proof Infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) has issued directions to the line departments and organizations to integrate various Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives in their development plans and projects so as to check the increasing vulnerability of the state from the landslides and other various processes that enhances vulnerability in case of heavy precipitation during the monsoon period.

A spokesman of HPSDMA while disclosing this here today said that departments must conduct a comprehensive risk assessment using the prescribed checklist to ensure disaster-resilient planning and design. He said that all departments and organizations must adhere to the 2012-HPSDMA guidelines for preparedness, capacity building and mainstreaming disaster risk reduction measures. He further said that these directives aim to enhance the resilience of infrastructure, safeguard public and mitigate risks associated with natural disasters.
