The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) proudly celebrated the culmination of the Swachcta Pakhwara (Cleanliness Fortnight) today. This event coincided with the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The ceremony commenced with Secretary Mehar Chand Negi administering a cleanliness oath to all attendees, emphasizing the importance of integrating cleanliness into daily life. Participants, including employees, fellows, and associate fellows, enthusiastically engaged in cleaning various areas of the campus, reflecting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Swachch Bharat (Clean India). This initiative also embodies the principles of simplicity and integrity championed by Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri Ji.
During the closing ceremony, Mohanlal from the Garden Section and Dhan Bahadur from the Estate Section were recognized as outstanding cleanliness workers for their exemplary dedication throughout the year, inspiring others in the community.
Secretary Negi stated, “This initiative reaffirms our commitment to national leadership policies and fosters a spirit of cooperation and awareness about cleanliness among community members.”
The Swachcta Pakhwara aimed not only at enhancing the institute’s cleanliness but also at nurturing a lasting awareness and sense of social responsibility among all community members.
The Indian Institute of Advanced Study remains dedicated to promoting cleanliness and social responsibility through future initiatives, ensuring a clean and safe environment for its community.
