The 26th Himachal Pradesh Children Science Congress was organized at Chaugan, Chamba as Dr. Ram Lal Markanda, Agriculture Minister, was present in the inaugural ceremony. More than 25 exhibitions were displayed on the occasion where ATC Sunder Nagar, Pollution Control Board Shimla, Forensic Science, Dharamshala exhibitions were the main centre of attraction. Accompanying the minister were Pawan Nayyar, MLA, Chamba; Vikram Jarayal, MLA, Bhatiyat; Professor Tej Pratap, Vice Chancellor, APG University Shimla; D.S. Thakur, BJP district president Chamba; Hemraj Bhairwa, ADC, Chamba; Dr. Monika, SP Chamba among others.

Children Science Congress, In the inaugural session Kunal Satyarthi, Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE, emphasized the importance of science and technology for the upliftment of rural backward areas. He also stated that state government had initiated the Vigyan Gram Yojna for the rural advancement. In continuation of the session Dr. Monika shared her views with the students. On launching of Yuva Vigyan Purskar Yojana – 2018, 24 students were awarded by Dr. Markanda.

Sahil Khatna and Vikrant Rewal were first prize winners of the Yuva Vigyan Purskar Yojna and received Rs. 1 lakh while the second prize winners Samridhi Sehgal and Pranjal Rana were awarded by Rs. 90,000 in form of a cheque. Dr. Ram Lal Markanda appreciated the model and exhibitions presented by students of 11 districts of the state.
