The film wins Special Jury Award at IFFS 2016
It was a day to reckon for Secret Corridor Pictures and Siddharth Chauhan, as they won the Special Jury Award for their film ‘The Infinite Space’. With an outstanding musical score by Khechog, a Tibetan Grammy Award Nominee along with Aasheesh Mehta (who is a local music producer), the film has a total cast and crew with local flavour. Real Life Monks have acted in the film and the film is in “Ladakhi Language”. All Visual Effects were done in Shimla by Yashwant Kumar Sharma, (Framebox Animation Institute, Sanjauli). The Film Premiered at University of Manchester, UK in 2015.
The movie revolves around a Buddhist boy Nawang who believes in a secret revealed by an old Buddhist scripture. He shares the secret with his friend Karma. The secret is to infinity and both discover that faith and belief can lead you to anything you want. The film was premiered in India at the International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala, 2015 where it was widely appreciated for its originality of content and form. At the international level it was premiered at The University of Manchester, UK in 2015 where it received amazing reviews for its ambiguous narrative avoiding obvious melodrama, powerful use of music and excellent cinematic storytelling!
Written, Directed and Produced by Siddharth Chauhan (a localite, originally from Rohru), the film was shot at Dorjidak Mahayana Buddhist Monastery, Panthaghati, Shimla and Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, Sanjauli, Shimla with support from Central School for Tibetans, Shimla.
The local star cast included Karma Jangchup, Tsering Samdup [Class 7, Central School for Tibetans], Nawang Jinpa [Dorjidak Mahayana Buddhist Monastery, Panthaghati, Shimla] and Nyima Tsering [Jonang Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, Sanjauli, Shimla].
Yashwant is credited for visual effects and the Assistant Director of the movie is Vibha Sharma (MCA Department, HPU).
Besides a first time filmmaker Piyush Kanga also won this award for his debutant film “DOST”, whereas the Best Film Award went to “Ram Bharose” by Aryan Harnot & Manwar Rana.
