Education Minister Rohit Thakur today participated as the chief guest in the annual prize distribution ceremony organized at Government Senior Secondary School Mandal under Jubbal sub-division. In his address on this occasion, he said that the present state government is making efforts to strengthen the government educational institutions in the state and to provide quality education to the students and in this view, appropriate steps are being taken by the state government in the education department.

He said that before the state government came to power, 12 thousand posts were vacant in the education department. The state government decided to fill more than 6 thousand posts in a single cabinet meeting so that quality education is available to the students in remote areas of the state.

The Education Department has started batch-wise recruitment of 2252 teachers. He said that the state government has also decided to establish cluster schools so that neighboring schools can share resources among themselves and provide better facilities to the students.

He said that new PG courses have been started in Government College Saraswati Nagar so that the students of the area can get their benefits. Polytechnic College is also being expanded in Pragatinagar. Keeping this in mind, the construction work of ITI building will also be completed soon so that the people and students of the area can benefit.

The development works under construction in the area will also be given impetus. He said that approval of Rs 250 crore has been received for roads in Jubbal Kotkhai assembly constituency within a year. The gardeners of the area will definitely benefit from the renovation and construction of roads.

Rohit Thakur said that we are trying to recover from the damage caused by the natural disaster. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has released a special relief package of Rs 4500 crore for the disaster affected people, under which the first installment of Rs 23 crore for the disaster affected people of Shimla district was released by the Chief Minister in a program organized in Theog, which was definitely appreciated by the people. People have benefited from it.

He said that the state government has made historic amendments in the relief manual. Whereas earlier Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand was given for a completely damaged building, this amount has been increased to Rs 7 lakh. Similarly, a provision of Rs 1 lakh was made for the partially damaged building.

A provision of Rs 55 thousand has been made in case of death of cattle due to disaster. Education Minister announced Rs 5 lakh for the protection wall of the school. He also announced Rs 50,000 for the cultural presentation and dresses of the students and mats for Kabaddi and Kho-Kho games. Apart from this, he assured that other demands will be considered and fulfilled sympathetically. On this occasion, the Education Minister honored the meritorious students and sent best wishes for their bright future. Devta Committee Banar contributed Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
