Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who visited the Institute for Children with Special Ability (Boys), Dhalli, in Shimla today, expressed happiness for organising several vocational programmes for such children from time to time and said that it was the responsibility of the teachers here and the society to hone the skills of specially-abled children and making them self-reliant.
Such children should be provided equal opportunity to express their calibre and motivated to participate in other co-curricular activities which will also provide them an apt platform to display their skills, said the governor. He appreciated the teachers of the institute for taking special care of the specially-abled and providing vocational training besides other regular courses being taught.
Encouraging them showcase their talent instil confidence in them. We can see that today, such specially-abled have achieved remarkable success in various fields and have earned name for the country and the State, the Governor remarked. He assured the teachers and other staff working in the institute that they will be provided better facilities for aiding the children.
The Governor interacted with the children and distributed sweets to them and promised to celebrate this Deepawali with them. He also visited the premises of the Institute. Earlier, the Principal of the institute Dharampal Rana welcomed the Governor and detailed about the vocational courses being run in the institute. He also apprised the Governor about various demands of the staff.
Secretary to the Governor Rajesh Sharma, Director, Social Justice & Empowerment, Pradeep Thakur, Additional Director, Women & Child Development, Mohan Dutt Sharma, District Welfare Officer, Kewal Ram Chauhan and District Child Protection Officer Rama Kanwar were also present at the institute amongst others.
