Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi today chaired the third meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, attended virtually by all Deputy Commissioners of the State.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the status of land transferred to various government departments and assessed the unutilized land across districts. He directed all Deputy Commissioners to convene meetings with concerned departments in their respective districts, compile accurate land records, and complete the exercise by 31st March 2026.
It was emphasized that any land transferred to a department but remaining unutilized for two years will be reverted back to the Revenue Department.
The Minister also reviewed key issues related to Revenue Lok Adalats. He stated that following recent amendments under Section 123 of the Himachal Pradesh Land Reforms Act, 1954, Naib Tehsildars and Tehsildars must dispose of partition (Takseem) cases within six months. Failure to do so requires submission of written reasons to the Deputy Commissioner. If the reasons are justified, an extension of three months may be granted; otherwise, action will be taken under the Civil Services (Conduct) Rules.
Similarly, timelines have been fixed for other cases: two months for demarcation (Nishandehi) cases and three months for correction (Duroosti) cases, ensuring faster disposal and better land management.
This initiative aims to strengthen land utilization tracking, accountability, and efficiency in government land management across Himachal Pradesh.
