Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri C.R. Patil, digitally released the JJM 2.0 Operational Guidelines today at the culmination of Jal Mahotsav 2026 on World Water Day. The 15-day nationwide campaign, held from 8–22 March, focused on community participation, water conservation, and Jal Arpan of drinking water assets to Gram Panchayats.
JJM 2.0, extending the Mission till December 2028, emphasizes sustainable service delivery, structural reforms, accountability, and community ownership. Priority is on ensuring rural households receive regular, safe, and adequate drinking water, moving from mere infrastructure creation to results-driven service delivery. Reform-Linked MoUs with States have been signed to strengthen governance at village and district levels.
During the 5th Sujal Gram Samvad, representatives from five States shared successful village-level water management practices, highlighting 24×7 supply, water quality monitoring, user contributions, and improved hygiene.
The Ministry called on all stakeholders to continue the spirit of ‘Jal Sanchay se Jan Bhagidari’, making every village a Sujal Gram and achieving Har Ghar Jal for Viksit Bharat @2047.
