Kullu Dussehra 2024 – Foreign Diplomats and International Artists

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for the International Kullu Dussehra festival. He directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements for the event which is scheduled to take place from October 13 to October 19 this year. The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to complete all preparations within the specified timeframe. Sukhu also directed the Kullu administration to ensure proper arrangements for the deities participating in the Dussehra fair. He said that all necessary provisions should be made in accordance with the traditions and respect for the deities.

He said that this year International cultural troupes would be the main attraction of the event and approximately 20 International cultural troupes were expected to participate in the fair. So far cultural groups from Russia, Sri Lanka, USA, Indonesia, and Myanmar have confirmed their participation. Additionally, artists from Assam, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Haryana will also be showcasing their performances. Cultural groups from Himachal Pradesh will have the opportunity to display their talents in the fair as well. 

The Chief Minister further said that several foreign diplomats were expected to attend the Dussehra festival enhancing the global appeal of the event. He said that a cultural parade would be also organized on October 14, and the Kullu Carnival would take place on October 19, featuring tableaus showcasing the programs and achievements of various government departments.  To make the International Kullu Dussehra more attractive competitions such as Kabaddi, volleyball and other sports events will also be held. Sukhu said 300 Home Guard personnel and 870 police jawans would be deployed for the event to ensure the safety and security of the event.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur participated in the meeting virtually. Meanwhile, in Shimla, the meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary M. Sudha Devi, ADGP Abhishek Trivedi, Director Tourism Department Mansi Sahay Thakur, Director Language and Culture Pankaj Lalit, ENC PWD N.P. Singh amongst others.
