Management and Students of Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Mohali celebrated the Lohri festival with great zeal and fervour. It is a festival connected with the solar year. It is an accepted fact that this is particularly a happy occasion for the couples who for the first time celebrate Lohri after their marriage and also the first Lohri of the son born in a family.
Lohri is a joyous time to eat gur and peanuts, singing songs and share the warmth with the family and loved ones. Lohri is an important festival which brings the entire community together; each family contributes til, gur and peanuts.
There was a bonfire in the school premises and children sang different traditional Punjabi tracks and poems as they danced on various tunes. It was a joyous time for all.
School Principal Namita Lal said this festival brings the community together and inculcate the values of sharing which are utmost necessary for a better society to come up. Peanuts and popcorn were distributed among the children.
