In a warm humanitarian gesture, Governor Kavinder Gupta handed over 40 blankets from Lok Bhavan to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Shimla, through the State Red Cross Society. The donation, specifically meant for the hospital’s pediatric ward, was received by IGMC Medical Superintendent Dr. Rahul Rao and Pediatric Surgery Assistant Professor Dr. Kamal Kant Sharma.
Highlighting the core mission of the Red Cross, the Governor emphasized that small acts of kindness can offer immense comfort and dignity to young patients and their families. He noted that children undergoing medical treatment require not just quality clinical care, but also a compassionate, nurturing environment.
Praising the State Red Cross Society for its persistent welfare efforts, Governor Gupta acknowledged IGMC’s pivotal role in delivering vital healthcare to people across Himachal Pradesh, especially those coming from remote and rural belts. He called for seamless collaboration between medical institutions, humanitarian organizations, and the public to support vulnerable patients beyond basic medical treatment, urging individuals and groups to actively participate in social service initiatives.
