A meeting to review and enhance the effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 was held today under the chairpersonship of Oshin Sharma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Urban), Shimla.
The meeting was attended by representatives from various government departments, Forest Rights Committees (FRCs), and the Municipal Corporation Shimla. Participants were briefed on the procedure for submitting individual and community claims under the Act and were instructed to forward all pending department-wise cases to the Sub-Divisional Level Committee (SDLC), Shimla Urban, at the earliest.
The Chair stressed the need for strong inter-departmental coordination, regular meetings of FRCs, and proactive involvement of all concerned departments to ensure the timely disposal of claims.
