Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD), Dr. Abhishek Jain, chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of various infrastructure projects under the Shimla Zone of HPPWD. During the meeting, he praised the department’s prompt and effective work in restoring roads damaged by recent natural disasters, noting that timely repairs have played a key role in restoring connectivity and public convenience.

Dr. Jain emphasized that with favorable weather conditions now prevailing, departments must accelerate work on projects under PMGSY, NABARD, and CRIF. He stressed the importance of both timely completion and high-quality execution, particularly in road construction and tarring.

A major directive from the Secretary was that all gifted lands for road construction must be mutated in the name of the Department within the next 10 days. He also instructed that existing roads must be properly entered in revenue records, ensuring legal compliance and transparency in land-related matters.

To enhance accountability, Dr. Jain called for regular inspections of ongoing works, offices, and rest houses by senior officers, with detailed reports to be submitted to higher authorities. He further highlighted the importance of close monitoring of PMGSY projects, urging the teams to maintain financial discipline, streamline record-keeping, and swiftly resolve any project-related obstacles.

In conclusion, Dr. Jain encouraged the adoption of best practices in execution, strict quality control, and optimal use of resources to align with the government’s vision of a robust road infrastructure across the Shimla Zone.
