SJVN’s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) has reached a remarkable milestone by achieving its design energy generation of 6612 million units on 1st December 2024. This achievement marks the second-fastest design energy generation since the record set on 19th November 2011.

Operational Excellence in Fiscal Year 2024-25

NJHPS achieved this milestone in just eight months of the current fiscal year, showcasing exceptional operational efficiency:

  • Capacity Utilization: Operated at 1650 MW due to 110% plant overloading for 116 days.
  • Zero Shutdowns: Continued uninterrupted operations despite high silt levels in the Satluj River.

These accomplishments underline NJHPS’s commitment to technical excellence and consistent performance, setting new benchmarks in hydroelectric power generation.

Recognition of Teamwork and Support

SJVN credited this success to the dedication and teamwork of Team NJHPS and the guidance of SJVN’s management. Gratitude was extended to:

  • Ministry of Power, Government of India
  • Government of Himachal Pradesh
  • Local administration and community
  • All stakeholders

Their support has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Contribution to Energy Sustainability

The achievement reflects the immense potential of India’s hydroelectric projects in advancing the nation’s energy self-reliance and sustainability goals. NJHPS continues to lead by example, paving the way for innovative and efficient power generation.
