SJVN’s 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS), the largest underground hydroelectric plant in India, has been honored with the prestigious CBIP Award for Best Maintained Project in the Hydro Sector for the fiscal year 2024-25. The award was presented at a grand ceremony in New Delhi to Raj Kumar Chaudhary, CMD (additional charge) of SJVN, and Ashutosh Bahuguna, Head of Project, NJHPS.
This recognition highlights SJVN’s outstanding contribution to India’s energy sector by successfully operating the nation’s largest underground hydroelectric project located in the challenging hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh. NJHPS Breaks Energy Generation Records in 2024-25

- Highest Ever Quarterly Energy Generation: 3450.980 million units in Q2 of fiscal 2024-25.
- Highest Ever Single Day Energy Generation: 39.572 million units on 13th August 2024.
- Highest Ever Monthly Generation: 1222.170 million units in July 2024.
Despite facing challenges such as high silt levels in the Satluj River, NJHPS has operated without any shutdowns, demonstrating unmatched efficiency and operational excellence.
