Shimla District Magistrate Aditya Negi chaired a meeting of the district-level committee convened under the Narko Coordination Center today. During the meeting, discussions centered on curbing the rising trend of substance abuse in the district.

Negi emphasized the need for all departmental officials and stakeholders to collaborate in efforts to combat the drug menace. He highlighted that a mobile application called “Drug-Free Himachal” has been launched to provide confidential information related to the trafficking and trade of narcotics. Through this app, individuals can discreetly inform the police about drug-related activities, while their identity remains anonymous.

In addition to the app, Negi shared that information regarding narcotics can also be reported via toll-free numbers 9459100100, 1908, or 112. These measures aim to encourage the community to actively participate in addressing the issue of drug abuse. The District Magistrate also urged relevant authorities to closely monitor the illegal cultivation of poppy and cannabis crops in the district. If any instance of narcotics cultivation is identified, prompt action should be taken to eradicate it.

Furthermore, Negi instructed officials to organize awareness camps against drug abuse in schools and colleges, as well as inspect de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in the district. In attendance at the meeting were additional police superintendent Navdeep, Subdivisional Magistrate Bhanu Gupta, and other committee members.
