The process of election of new office bearers for the upcoming term of Masters Athletics Federation of India – Himachal Pradesh has been completed. A meeting of the association was held in Shimla in which the new executive committee was formed unanimously and unopposed. The meeting was conducted by Jyoti Chauhan (ALR & Under Secretary (Law Department) Secretariat- Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Newly formed executive: Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma has been made the chief patron of the association. Bhishma Chauhan has been made the honorary president. President: Dr. Rajkumar Rana (Hamirpur), Chief Secretary: Ripudaman Kaushik (Shimla), Executive Senior Vice President: Brij Lal Thakur (Mandi), Senior Vice Presidents: Ranjit Singh Chanana (Shimla), Surender Singh Dehal (Hamirpur), Vice Presidents: Ashwani Sharma (Una), Jyoti Chauhan (Shimla), Bhupender Singh Bobby (Kinnaur).
Rajender Rana (Kangra) Senior Joint Secretaries: Dwarika Thakur (Kullu), Jitram Sharma (Shimla), Nitin Dogra (Hamirpur); Joint Secretary: Kuldeep Sandhu (Shimla), Suresh Nadda (Bilaspur), Kalpana Parmar (Solan), Treasurer: Somesh Sharma (Shimla), President Women Cell: Tashi Palmo (Lahaul-Spiti) Executive Members: Jeevanand Sharma, Pankaj Prabhakar, Dr . Sushil Sharma, Sheeshpal Nagu, Anita, Amit Verma, Rohit Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Narayan Verma were all appointed unopposed. Newly appointed Chief Secretary of Masters Athletics Himachal Pradesh Ripudaman Kaushik informed the members present about the achievements and upcoming programs of the Federation.
Ripudaman Kaushik said that “Masters Athletics” was originally the resolution of Milkha Singh, also known as ‘Flying Sikh’. ‘Flying Sikh’ established Masters Athletics in 1978, which was then known as ‘All India Veteran Athletics’ It was said that it was established and in 1980 it was given a concrete shape in Chandigarh.
At present, Masters Athletics Federation of India – Himachal Pradesh is providing a platform to players from 30 to 100+ years of age, so that masters players from every region of the state can get an opportunity to showcase their talent at national and international level. Masters Athletics Federation of India – Himachal Pradesh is the only federation registered. Masters Athletics Federation of India is recognized by “World Masters Athletics” (WMA) and Asian Masters Athletics (AMA) and follows the rules of “International Olympic Council” It is bound to uphold and maintain the “highest spirit of sportsmanship” with the help of its officials, athletes and functionaries.
Spirit of sportsmanship through the efforts of Masters Athletics Federation of India, Anti-Naxalism, Anti-Doping Programme And plays a vital role in protecting the integrity of the Anti-Doping movement, Anti-Doping campaign works towards eliminating doping/drugs from our lifestyle and focuses on promoting health and longevity among all athletes and associates . New President Dr. Raj Rana said that it is a matter of great honour that I have got the opportunity to join an organisation which has been working for the players for more than four decades.
The 45th National Masters will be held in New Delhi in February 2025. Athletics competition is being organised, and I assure that this time the largest contingent in the history of Masters Athletics will represent Himachal in the national competition. A three-member committee has been formed to organize the state level championship. Suresh Nadda, Ranjit Singh Chanana and Nitin Dogra will look after the arrangements for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition. Amit Verma and Jyoti Chauhan have been appointed legal and judicial advisors.
Kuldeep Sandhu and Bhupinder Singh Bobby have been appointed as advisors to Somesh Sharma in accounting work. Brij Lal Thakur, Ashwini Sharma and Dwarka Thakur have been appointed as administrators of the selection committee. Vijay Kumar has been given the responsibility of the technical committee track and field. Pawan Verma and Sanjay Saklani have been given the responsibility of sponsor management. The members present congratulated the new executive and also assured all possible support for Masters Athletics.
