On the occasion of the New Year, Umang Foundation, Shimla, in collaboration with various Gurudwaras, will organise a mega blood donation camp at The Ridge, Shimla, on January 1, to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The organisers have appealed to citizens to begin the New Year with the noble act of blood donation and help save the lives of patients.
Camp coordinators Rohit Duggal, a PhD scholar at Himachal Pradesh University, and Mukesh Kumar said that the camp is being organised in the sacred memory of the sacrifices of the great Sikh Gurus, with the primary objective of supporting patients admitted at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.
They said that blood shortage is a recurring issue at the IGMC blood bank during the winter season, and Umang Foundation has consistently taken a leading role in organising blood donation camps to address this challenge.
President of Gurudwara Sahib Baluganj, Sardar Guru Sagar Singh Chaudhary, said that several Gurudwaras in Shimla are extending full cooperation in organising the camp. Sardar Paramjeet Singh Pammi and Varinder Singh Rishi, President of the Mall Road Businessmen Association, informed that Karah Prasad from Gurudwara Sahib will also be distributed on the occasion.
President of Umang Foundation, Prof. Ajay Shrivastava, said that the fifth Guru Sri Guru Arjun Dev, the ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh, along with Mata Gujri, the young Sahibzadas, and countless Sikh warriors made immense sacrifices to protect Sanatan Dharma. He said that the entire Hindu society remains deeply grateful for these historic sacrifices.
