Director of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ram Kumar Gautam today here clarified that there has been no increase in the price of edible oils at fair price shops. He stated that the surge in oil prices across the market was due to the Central Government’s increase of custom duty on various edible oils.

However Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has taken swift action to protect the people from these escalating costs and directed the department to keep the prices of edible oils at fair price shops unchanged so that people could continue to get the oil at same subsidized rates.
