Students of Orchid Prep School, New Shimla, made people laugh and enjoy during their annual day celebration held at Gaiety with some amazing performances as Dr (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, Social, Justice, & Empowerment Minister Himachal was present as the chief guest to witness the little ones put their best foot forward and make everyone smile. Speaking on the occasion School Principal Neelam Vij said that it was a great pleasure to present the little ones on stage and see them perform.

She also informed about incorporating The Nut Space Phonics Stones Programme in their school curriculum as the need for The Phonics Programme Reading is one of the most important skills for the 21st century. According to the 10th Annual Status of Education Report (ASER 2014), the situation with basic reading continues to be extremely disheartening in India. The report states that only a fourth of all children studying in Class 3 can read a Class 2 text fluently. Even in Class 5 only 50 % of the students are able to read Class 2 text. One of the reasons for such a gap in fluency is lack of skilled teachers to teach children the right phonetics.
Students presented lively dances of representing different states of India, Kathak, Bhangra dance on Bollywood songs and many more exciting items.
The cute gestures of students won hearts of all and made them spell bounded. Each parent was carried away with the amazing performances. Special children too touched hearts of all with their emotional performance on the song Tere Hai Zameen.
