Chief Secretary K.K. Pant chaired a state-level conference today to review administrative arrangements for the second phase of the census in Himachal Pradesh’s snow-bound regions. Congratulating officers and district administrations on the successful completion of the first phase, he directed all departments to maintain strict coordination, care, and commitment to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data collection. He emphasized that authentic census data forms the essential foundation for effective social and economic planning, policy-making, and budgetary allocation across the state.
Providing details on the timeline, Director of Census Operations Deep Shikha informed that the initial phase—covering house listing and housing census—has been successfully concluded. The upcoming second phase, focusing on population enumeration, will take place in the snow-bound areas from September 1 to September 30, 2026. Additionally, residents will have access to a self-enumeration facility on the official Census portal from August 17 to August 31, 2026.
