PM Promises Full Support to Flood-Hit Himachal

PM Narendra Modi visited Himachal Pradesh today to assess the widespread devastation caused by recent floods, cloudbursts, and landslides.

Conducting an aerial survey of the worst-hit areas, the Prime Minister later held a high-level review meeting in Kangra. He announced a comprehensive relief package of ₹1,500 crore, including the advance release of SDRF funds and PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi support.

Key announcements include:

  • Ex-gratia relief of ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.

  • Full support under PM CARES for children orphaned by the disaster.

  • Restoration initiatives covering:

    • Housing via PM Awas Yojana (with geotagging of damaged homes),

    • Rebuilding schools under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan,

    • Road and infrastructure repair, including national highways,

    • Support for farmers, especially those lacking power connections,

    • Mini kits for livestock and improved water harvesting structures.

PM Modi met affected families, expressing deep condolences, and assured that the Centre will work hand-in-hand with the state for recovery and rebuilding.

He also met with NDRF, SDRF, Army, and Aapda Mitra volunteers, commending their tireless relief efforts.

Inter-Ministerial Central Teams have already begun damage assessments. The PM reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to extend further assistance based on these findings.
