Members of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, who recently clinched the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, called on the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (November 6, 2025).
The President congratulated the team for their historic victory, noting that their achievement has filled the hearts of millions of Indians with pride and joy. She said that people across the nation and abroad are celebrating this remarkable success.
President Murmu remarked that the team truly represents the spirit of India—diverse in backgrounds, yet united in purpose. “You come from different regions and circumstances, but together, you are one team—Team India. This team shows India at its best,” she said.
Commending their performance, the President highlighted the significance of defeating the seven-time world champion and then-undefeated Australian team and winning the final by a large margin. She described this triumph as a memorable example of excellence, teamwork, and resilience.
The President praised the players for becoming role models for the nation, especially for young girls, who would be inspired by their determination and success. She expressed confidence that the same spirit and dedication would keep Indian cricket at the top in the years to come.
Reflecting on the team’s journey, President Murmu acknowledged the challenges they faced—the moments of uncertainty and perseverance that shaped their victory. She noted that after the win against New Zealand, the entire nation believed that “our daughters would prevail,” despite ups and downs in the match.
Applauding the team’s hard work, skill, and commitment, the President also extended appreciation to the coaches and support staff for their crucial role in the team’s success. She encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and to keep creating new records for Team India.
