Prof. Madan Mohan Goel’s IIAS Visit : Pioneer of Needonomics

Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, a renowned economist and three-time Vice-Chancellor, has joined the prestigious Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Niwas Shimla as a Visiting Professor. With an illustrious career spanning over 46 years in teaching and 17 years in academic administration, Prof. Goel is recognized globally as the Propounder of the Needonomics School of Thought.

During his one-month residency at IIAS Shimla, Prof. Goel will deliver three insightful lectures on critical topics including “Relevance of Gita-based Needonomics for Global Economy,” “Academic Leadership for Needo-governance in Institutional Management,” and “Needo-education of Needonomics: A Pathway to Sustainability and Resilience in a Changing World.” These lectures will be published by IIAS, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to cutting-edge research in sustainable economics and governance.

Prof. Goel’s extensive leadership experience includes key roles at RGNIYD Sriperumbudur, Jagannath University Jaipur, Starex University Gurugram, and Veer Kunwar Singh University Ara. His national and international accolades include the Ambassador for Peace award by the Universal Peace Federation and the LOSD Excellence Award 2023 in London.

An academic powerhouse, Prof. Goel has authored over 528 publications and supervised 50 research scholars. His work significantly contributes to India’s economic policy framework, including participation in the NEP Orientation Programme and the PMO-led Amrit Kaal Vimarsh. Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Advanced Sciences, Dartmouth, USA, and the driving force behind the Global Centre for Needonomics, promoting value-based economics globally.

Prof. Goel’s unique blend of economic expertise and spiritual wisdom, highlighted through more than 700 blogs, marks a new chapter for IIAS Shimla, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainability, governance, and economic resilience.
