PWD Minister Explores Bengaluru Smart City Framework

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh has said that Himachal Pradesh will study Bengaluru’s urban development model to strengthen infrastructure and improve urban planning in the state.

During his visit to Bengaluru, the minister held detailed meetings with senior officials of the Urban Development Department, the Smart City Mission, and the Greater Bengaluru Authority to review ongoing urban development initiatives in Karnataka.

He said that the urban governance systems and infrastructure projects implemented under the Smart City framework and the Greater Bengaluru Authority are highly impressive and serve as strong examples of planned urban development in the country.

Vikramaditya Singh noted that Karnataka has undertaken significant reforms and innovative projects in the urban sector, many of which can be adapted for use in Himachal Pradesh. He added that a delegation of officials from the Urban Development Department, municipal bodies, and Smart City projects of Himachal Pradesh will soon visit Karnataka to study these models in detail and explore their implementation back home.

He further stated that efforts will be made to secure approvals for key proposals under the Urban Challenge Fund from the Union Government, while ongoing urban development projects in the state will also be expedited to ensure sustainable and planned growth.

Earlier, the minister also met spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, where discussions were held on developmental initiatives and promoting social and religious harmony in Himachal Pradesh. He also sought blessings for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.
