The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presiding over the ceremony. Marking the occasion, the Governor hoisted the National Flag on the Eastern Lawn of Raj Bhavan and inspected the guard of honour presented by the Police Guard. Lady Governor Janki Shukla also graced the event.

He paid tribute to freedom fighters and brave soldiers who laid down their lives to uphold the unity and sovereignty of the nation.

Highlighting India’s growing global stature, the Governor noted that the country has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and is steadily progressing toward becoming the third-largest. He urged citizens to commit themselves to national development during this ‘Amrit Kaal’ and contribute actively to the country’s progress and unity.
