A spokesperson of the State Election Department informed here today that 6589 polling parties have moved towards their destination on Thursday. He said that two days prior to the polls, 1617 polling parties in Kangra, 1196 in district Mandi, 967 in district Shimla and 624 polling parties in Chamba district have departed towards their polling stations.
Apart from this 582 polling parties in Solan, 571 in district Kullu, 409 in Bilaspur and 403 polling parties in Sirmour have headed toward their place of duty amidst security. In district Lahaul & Spiti a total of 92 as a whole and in Kinnaur all 128 polling parties have left for their destination respectively.
On the last day before polls i.e. 31st May (P-1), 1403 polling parties will move towards their polling stations. He said that in Mehla block of Chamba district falling under Mandi PC, the polling party walked around 15 Kilometers to reach their destination for ‘Aehlami’ polling booth. Similarly, the parties have also headed towards the farthest polling booths on foot for 11 kms to reach ‘Pandaar’ in Dodra-Kwar and ‘Shaakti’ polling booth in Great Himalayan National Park, Kullu.
Apart from this the polling parties moved 13 kilometers on foot for ‘Chakki’ polling Station in Bhattiyat assembly segment, falling under Kangra Parliamentary constituency. The EVMs were lifted in Choppers with the entire paraphernalia for Bara Banghal along with the teams deputed.
