During a surprise inspection conducted by the Director of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Khalini, Shimla, on 9th September 2025, multiple serious lapses were noted, leading to immediate disciplinary action.
One of the most concerning observations was the unauthorised absence of the school principal Raj Kumar, who was found to be absent on both 8th and 9th September without submitting any prior intimation or approved leave request. The school staff confirmed that no communication had been made by the Principal regarding his absence, and this was further corroborated by the Deputy Director (Higher Education), who reported that no leave application had been received. Taking serious note of this lapse, a show-cause notice has been issued to the Principal, who has been summoned to appear before the Director on 11th September 2025 with a written explanation and justification.
In addition to the issue of absenteeism, the inspection also revealed academic irregularities. Ramesh Kumar, Lecturer in History, and Anita Thakur, Lecturer in Political Science, were found using helpbooks as teaching material instead of the prescribed NCERT textbooks. This is in direct violation of the government’s academic guidelines. Both lecturers have also been served with show-cause notices for disregarding official instructions.
Responding to these incidents, the Director of School Education reiterated the importance of strict compliance with government rules, procedures, and curriculum guidelines in all government schools. It was emphasized that any deviation will be treated seriously and will attract strict disciplinary action to maintain academic integrity and administrative accountability.
