Rohit Thakur Takes Stock of Education Initiatives

Education Minister Rohit Thakur today presided over a review meeting with senior officers of the Education Department to assess the progress of major schemes and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in Himachal Pradesh.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed key programmes including the restructuring of directorates, Mukhyamantri Bal Poshtik Aahar Yojana, digital attendance system, international exposure visits for teachers, Apna Vidyalaya Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools, and the affiliation of schools with CBSE.

Thakur highlighted that over the past three years, the State Government has implemented several transformative measures to strengthen the education system. He informed that around 7,000 teachers have already been recruited across various categories, and the process is underway to fill more than 9,000 additional posts, including 1,170 TGTs, 1,762 JBTs, 37 Lecturers (PWD), 69 C&V teachers, and 6,292 NTT teachers. He directed officials to expedite the recruitment process to ensure timely filling of all vacancies.

Emphasizing the positive outcomes of recent reforms, the Minister said that these efforts have led to an improvement in Himachal Pradesh’s ranking in terms of education quality. He expressed satisfaction over the State being declared fully literate and appreciated the Education Department’s dedication towards this achievement.

Thakur informed that induction training programmes have been initiated for newly recruited teachers to familiarize them with modern teaching practices. He also stressed the need for regular school inspections to enhance accountability and directed Deputy Directors to frequently visit schools and promote a better learning environment.

Secretary (Education) Rakesh Kanwar emphasized the importance of resource-sharing between different levels of schools to ensure optimal use of human and physical resources.
