Rural Self-Employment Gets ₹300 Cr Boost from KVIC

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, disbursed margin money subsidy worth over ₹300 crore to 11,480 beneficiaries from the service sector across the country under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

The subsidy was released virtually by KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar from the Rajghat office in New Delhi, in the presence of KVIC CEO Roop Rashi and other senior officials. The disbursement is linked to loan sanctions totaling ₹906 crore, aiming to support new micro-enterprise projects nationwide.

Speaking at the occasion, Manoj Kumar stated,

“Under the leadership of PM Modi, the PMEGP scheme has not only provided financial assistance but has become a grassroots social movement that is empowering youth, women, and artisans towards self-employment and entrepreneurship.”

He further highlighted that the scheme is playing a crucial role in building a self-reliant and developed India, particularly by fostering sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

The disbursement drive saw active participation from all six zones of the country:

  • Central Zone (Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand):
    ₹72 crore subsidy | 2403 projects | ₹218 crore loans

  • East Zone (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar):
    ₹22 crore subsidy | 996 projects | ₹71 crore loans

  • North Zone (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh):
    ₹61 crore subsidy | 2713 projects | ₹184 crore loans

  • North-East Region (Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura):
    ₹2 crore subsidy | 81 projects

  • South Zone (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry):
    ₹116 crore subsidy | 4565 projects | ₹343 crore loans

  • West Zone (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa):
    ₹26 crore subsidy | 722 projects | ₹82 crore loans

Since its inception, the PMEGP scheme has enabled the establishment of over 10.18 lakh micro-enterprises, with loan sanctions crossing ₹73,348 crore and margin money subsidies of ₹27,166 crore. The scheme has generated over 90 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across India, emerging as one of the most impactful self-employment initiatives.

This latest disbursement reflects the continued commitment of KVIC and the Government of India to promote inclusive economic growth through entrepreneurship, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
