Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta today inaugurated the newly constructed Main Darbar Sahib at Sarv Dharma Peeth Taposthan, Gurdwara Nanak Jyot Sahib in Fatehpur, Kangra district.

On the occasion, the Governor congratulated all those associated with the development of the sacred site and described Sarv Dharma Peeth as a living symbol of India’s spiritual heritage, inclusiveness, and communal harmony. He said the institution promotes mutual respect and unity among people belonging to all faiths.

Highlighting the historical and spiritual significance of the site, the Governor noted that Guru Nanak Dev is believed to have stayed here during his third Udasi. He added that archaeological and religious evidence, including ancient artefacts, the presence of the old Nagni Mata temple, and a sacred banyan tree, indicate the area’s long-standing association with worship and meditation.

Paying tribute to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Gupta said that his teachings of equality, compassion, truth, and selfless service continue to guide humanity even today. He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Sevadar Sant Baba Lavpreet Ji Maharaj in developing the complex as a centre reflecting India’s traditions of spiritual harmony and coexistence.

He further observed that the presence of Guru Granth Sahib, a temple dedicated to the divine mother, and the eternal sacred flame (Akhanda Jyot) within the same complex reflects a unique spirit of unity, where people from all backgrounds are welcomed without discrimination.

On the occasion of the Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the Governor paid homage to the fifth Sikh Guru, remembering his supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and humanity.

Expressing concern over the growing menace of drug abuse, particularly among youth, the Governor urged young people to actively engage in Seva and community service activities. He stressed that combating drug addiction requires collective efforts from families, educational institutions, religious bodies, communities, and the government, stating that only united action can lead to a drug-free village, a drug-free Himachal Pradesh, and ultimately a drug-free India.
