Shimla Govt Offices Get Two Local Holidays in 2026

The Himachal Pradesh Government, through its General Administration Department, has announced two local holidays for government employees in Shimla (within municipal limits) for the year 2026.

The holidays are:

  1. Maha Ashtami – 19th October 2026 (Monday)

  2. Govardhan Pooja – 9th November 2026 (Monday)

These holidays apply to employees of all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions stationed in Shimla. However, they do not apply to daily wage workers and are not considered holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

The notification, issued by the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, has been circulated to all administrative secretaries, department heads, divisional commissioners, and key offices to ensure proper implementation and public awareness.
