SJVN And THDC Collaborate For National Level Athlete Training In Uttarakhand

SJVN and THDC India Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a High-Performance Water Sports Academy in Tehri, Uttarakhand. The MoU was signed in the presence of Geeta Kapur, CMD, SJVN, and Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDC, in New Delhi.

Under the MoU, SJVN will provide financial assistance of Rs. One Crore to THDC for the establishment of an advanced gymnasium as an integral part of the High-performance Water Sports Academy. The academy will feature training centers equipped with modern infrastructure and equipment.

The development of this facility is a collaborative effort between SJVN, THDC, ITBP, Indian Kayaking & Canoeing Association, and the Olympic Association of Uttarakhand. It aims to train national-level athletes for both national and international competitions in Kayaking & Canoeing.

The Water Sports Academy will focus on identifying and nurturing talent in water sports from an early age, ensuring a sustainable influx of skilled athletes. This initiative is a significant step towards the flagship initiative ‘Khelo India’ of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The MoU was signed by Awadhesh Prasad, GM (CSR) of SJVN, and Amardeep, GM (CSR) of THDC, India Limited.
