SJVN Hosts State Level Painting Competition Promoting Energy Conservation

The State Level Painting Competition, organized by SJVN under the National Campaign on Energy Conservation 2024, was held at Shimla, graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, as the Chief Guest. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, highlighted the importance of energy conservation through the creativity of young minds.

Honoring Artistic Talent

The Governor, accompanied by his wife, Janaki Shukla, appreciated the artistic brilliance of participating students, praising their ability to convey energy conservation themes effectively. The event showcased winning entries at the Exhibition Gallery, symbolizing a collective commitment to environmental sustainability.

Awards and Recognition (WINNERS)

In two categories, Group A (Classes 5th to 7th) and Group B (Classes 8th to 10th), the top three winners were awarded cash prizes of ₹50,000, ₹30,000, and ₹20,000. Additionally, ten students from each group received consolation prizes of ₹7,500, with every participant earning a memento and ₹2,000 for their efforts.

Massive Participation Across Himachal Pradesh

SJVN Director (Personnel), Ajay Kumar Sharma, highlighted the widespread engagement with 2,10,936 students from 4,794 schools across 12 districts participating in the first phase of the competition. The top 55 paintings from each group were shortlisted by an expert jury to proceed to the State Level Competition.

Themes Promoting Sustainability

This year’s themes—“Protect Nature’s Gifts, Embrace Sustainable Shifts” and “You Have the Power to Save the Power”—emphasized the critical role of individual and collective actions in preserving natural resources and adopting sustainable practices.

National Level Competition Awaits

The winners of the State Level Competition will represent Himachal Pradesh in the National Level Painting Competition, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 11th December 2024. Organized under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), this final phase will bring together top talents nationwide.

SJVN’s ongoing efforts as the nodal agency for Himachal Pradesh since 2005 reflect its commitment to promoting awareness about energy conservation and sustainability.
