SJVN Wins First Prize at Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2024

SJVN has earned the first prize in the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2024, presented by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The award recognizes the company’s exceptional efforts during the Swachhta Pakhwada 2024 campaign, held from 16th to 31st May 2024, as part of the Swachh Bharat MissionIndia to Host WADA’s Global Anti-Doping Training in New Delhi.

The award was received by Sushil Kumar Sharma, CMD (Designate) of SJVN, from Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary Power, during a ceremony in New Delhi. Also present were Vikas Marwah, HOP (RHPS), and Dhiraj Gupta, DGM (CSR).

Key Highlights of SJVN’s Swachhta Initiatives

  1. Cleanliness drives were conducted at public places such as parks, markets, railway stations, rivers, bathing ghats, and temples. Nineteen blackspots were cleaned, out of which 14 have been adopted for year-long maintenance.
  2. Sustainability projects included installing bio-composting and solar energy plants, recycling domestic, paper, and e-waste, and distributing reusable bags as part of anti-plastic campaigns.
  3. Community engagement was strengthened by collaborating with the Shimla Municipal Corporation to install CCTV cameras for cleanliness monitoring and adopting public parks at The Mall Road, Shimla. SJVN also continued maintaining the Biodiversity Park in Shanan, Shimla, which is open to the public.
  4. Educational programs were organized, including competitions like “Best from Waste,” painting, and debates in local schools, with rewards for the best performers.

SJVN’s Legacy of Excellence

SJVN has consistently demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and community welfare. The company has won four first prizes, including three consecutive wins, and one second prize in the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards over the years.

Sushil Kumar Sharma expressed pride in the recognition, describing it as a reflection of SJVN’s dedication to cleanliness, sustainability, and community well-being.
