Sports Day is not just a day where emphasis is on sports but it gives numerous hidden messages of nationalism, team work and consistence said, Jyoti Gupta, Joint Director Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration Shimla, as she spoke on the occasion of Auckland House School Girls Junior Section Sports Day held here today in school premises. She encouraged parents to lead their children by doing things practically and not just words as she said that a child is the best copycat and they always follow their parents. She also insisted that children should be given an opportunity to play and do physical exercise rather than scold them for dirtying their clothes while playing.
The day began with a beautiful PT display by little the ones as they danced their way to fitness. A number of races such as the bunny race, kangaroo race, hopping and banana race, party race, treasure hunt, balance the bangle, fisherman race, balance the ball, lemon and spoon, partner race and skating races were conducted in which little ones participated with full zeal and excitement. The tiny tots showed that it is always not about winning the race but it is about participation as well as race to finish that matters. They gave a message that no race whether in life or sports, should be left in middle no matter how tough going gets but one should never give up.
Speaking on the occasion, Direct-Principal Sunita John said, “That it was a great day and good to see little ones from Classes Nursery to Second participate in different activities. She thanked the parents for becoming part of the event. She also requested the parents to keep a close eye on their children considering the unfortunate incidents taking place which are coming into light so that their children are safe.” She further added that, “We have started teaching students at tender age about the good and bad touch via short films and soon we will try to hold a counseling session for parents too.”
The day ended on a happy note as for little ones it was day filled with fun and results were just the bonus.
