St. Thomas School in Shimla organized an Inter-House Group Patriotic Singing Competition today, paying tribute to the heroes of the Shimla tragedy and remembering the late student Saurabh, who tragically lost his life in the Summerhill Shiv Bawdi accident on August 14.

The primary objective of the event was to honor the brave personnel of NDRF, SDRF, CITY POLICE, and the Indian Army (Engineer Corps) who tirelessly worked for the relief efforts during the Shimla tragedy. Additionally, it was an occasion to remember and pay homage to Saurabh, a Class 12 student of St. Thomas School, who met with the unfortunate accident.

The competition was divided into two phases. In the first phase, an Inter-Patriotic Song Competition was held, dedicated to the memory of Saurabh. Students from various school houses showcased their talents by singing patriotic songs, creating a heartfelt tribute.

The second phase of the event was a touching dedication to the real heroes – the NDRF, SDRF, CITY POLICE, and Indian Army personnel who played a pivotal role in the Shimla tragedy relief work. They were felicitated with shawls and mementos as tokens of gratitude. Dr. Meenakshi Faith Paul, Principal of the Evening College and a member of St. Thomas’ School Management Committee, graced the event as a special guest.

The panel of judges included Dr. Sneh, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Government College, Kandaghat, Dr. Anoop, Professor of Music at GB Pant Memorial Government College, Rampur Bushahr, and Sandeep Ji, music teacher at Auckland House School Girls, Shimla. Patriotic songs were presented by students from both the junior and senior sections, showcasing their talent and love for the country.

  1. 1st Position: Toshqui House
  2. 2nd Position: Shipkila House
  3. 3rd Position: Kasturi House
  4. 4th Position: Chinar House

In the Senior Category:

  1. 1st Place: Chinar House
  2. 2nd Place: Toshqui House
  3. 3rd Place: Kasturi House
  4. 4th Place: Shipkila House

The overall trophy was claimed by Toshqui House for their outstanding performance.

Honoring Shimla Tragedy Relief Workers

Principal Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakarvarty expressed her gratitude to all the guests and the brave jawans for their exemplary service. She highlighted the importance of inculcating values like patriotism, nation-building, social service, and disaster relief efforts in students. The event not only celebrated the spirit of patriotism but also served as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the Shimla community in the face of adversity.
