StartUps Grew 300 Times In Last 9 Years

To start with Dr Jitendra Singh said that StartUps in India grew 300 times in the last 9 years. Dr Jitendra Singh was speaking at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan. “National Innovation Awards”, instituted by the Union Ministry of Science & Technology, were presented to “Grassroot Innovators” by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

National Education Policy 2020 Emphasizes Skill Development

Moreover, the Minister praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to promote skill-based education through the National Education Policy 2020. Furthermore this policy emphasizes skill over academic degrees, enabling individuals to earn a livelihood according to their aptitude and skill. This policy has created a favorable environment for the youth of India, who possess immense talent, capability, innovation, and creativity.

“Grassroot Innovators” Recognized for Their Talent

Additionally, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that India has an abundance of “Grassroot Innovators” who may not have formal education but possess inherent talent and an inborn aptitude for innovation and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile he appreciated the efforts of the Department of Science and Technology and National Innovation Foundation (NIF) for organizing the “Festival of Innovation & Entrepreneurship” (FINE), a unique effort to promote Science, Technology, and Innovation among those who may not have a formal education in science.

Furthermore, the Minister stated that Prime Minister Modi’s decision to open up the Space sector for private participation has led to more than 100 startups in just three years. As a result this decision has further encouraged and provided opportunities for the youth of India to showcase their talent and creativity.

Awards Presented in Different Categories

Lastly, Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the efforts of the National Innovation Awards, instituted by the Union Ministry of Science & Technology, to promote and recognize the efforts of “Grassroot Innovators” in different categories, such as national level, state level, and student category. Two of the awardees had already been awarded Padma for their innovations, highlighting the immense potential of India’s youth to create success stories and generate attractive means of livelihoods for themselves.
