Earnest efforts should be made to strengthen the Panchkarma Centres in order to make them ‘Centres of Excellence’ stated Industries and AYUSH Minister, Harshwardhan Chauhan while presiding over a review meeting of AYUSH Department here today. Directions were issued to explore possibilities of Panchkarma in the hotels of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation having good occupancy, stated the Minister. The staff should be well trained for imparting quality treatment to the visitors. Not only it will provide added income but will strengthen tourism in the State as well, said he. Besides, the department was directed to identify suitable land for developing Integrated Wellness Centres in the State.
The Minister directed to expedite the proposal of converting Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate College, Paprola, into All India Institute of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences with the Union Ministry. He said that for proper utilization of the services of specialist doctors and the rationalization of existing human resources should be done. For this, PG Ayurvedic Medical Officers serving in AYUSH Health Centres can be utilized to AYUSH Hospitals. Appreciating the proactive initiatives being taken by AYUSH Department, he emphasized that Ayurvedic Pharmacies in the State should be upgraded by strengthening it with adequate manpower. The production of ayurvedic medicines in the State could be increased in different drug manufacturing units of the department so that the State becomes self-sufficient and profit making units, he added. Senior officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
