State Government Plans To Strengthen Medical College Casualty Wings

Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over a meeting of the Health Department here Monday late evening and said that the state government mulls to strengthen the Casualty wings of Medical Colleges in the State to facilitate the people at large. He said that to provide better health services the Casualty wings of various Medical Colleges were being upgraded to Emergency Medicines Department and staff strength including doctors, nurses and other supporting staff was also being enhanced proportionately.

He said that a proposal would be placed before the Cabinet for its approval shortly. The Chief Minister said that in the Department of Emergency Medicines, doctors and para medical staff would work in shifts of eight hours each and thus paving the way to strengthen the emergency services. Better health infrastructure would be provided at Atal Institute of Medical Super-specialty, Chamiyana at Shimla to ensure specialized health services.

State Government has constituted Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation (HPMSC) for procurement of quality medicines, medical equipments and other machinery with latest technology at competitive prices and to ensure the timely supply to various health institutions of the State, said Sukhu. He stressed for the purchase of all medicines and medical equipments through this Corporation in future. The present State Government was committed to provide better medical care to the people of the State at their door steps and various posts of specialist doctors and paramedical staff were being filled up in the health institutions on priority said the Chief Minister.

Robotic surgery would be provided in all medical colleges of the State in a phased manner which would ensure the latest and modern health services within the State, he added. Health Minister, Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sanjay Awasthi, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister (IT and Innovation), Gokul Butail, Advisor (Infrastructure), Anil Kapil, OSD to the Chief Minister, Gopal Sharma, Chief Secretary, Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Bharat Khera, Secretary Health, M. Sudha Devi, Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vivek Bhatia, Special Secretary Health, Ashwani Sharma, Director Health Services, Dr. Gopal Berry, Principal IGMC, Dr. Sita Thakur and other officers attended the meeting.
