ScCongress.Naha.18.11 (15)The State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, H.P., organized the 24th State Level Children’s Science Congress from 15-18 November, 2016, at Govt. (Boys) Senior Secondary School, Nahan, H.P. in collaboration with the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan, Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh and Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodyogiki Sanchar Parishad, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Encouraging children to be sensitive towards persons with disability, the theme for 2016 was “Science, Technology & Innovation for Sustainable Development with Special Emphasis on Accessibility for Persons with Disability”. 

ScCongress.Naha.18.11 (14)The HP SCSTE has been organizing Children’s Science Congress every year since 1993 when it was initiated by the NCSTC, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The Congress reflects a variety of innovative ideas by the children through their project work on relevant issues from different parts of the state.

ScCongress.Naha.18.11 (13)In 2015 about 20,000 child scientists from about 5000 schools in all 60 subdivisions of the State took part. Besides, about 4000 students participated at district level in all 12 districts of the State. Children’s Science Congress is the only Science popularization programme in the State which has such an enormous outreach and has been successful in inculcating scientific temper in the society through child scientists. Exhibitions are displayed to inculcate scientific temperament among children. Scientific Survey Report, Science Quiz, Science Models, Maths Olympiad, Science Skit etc. were organized during this Congress in which more than 600 students and teachers from all over the State participated.

ScCongress.Naha.18.11 (11)Prize distribution function and the closing ceremony were held on 18th November, 2016 at 11 am. Vinay Kumar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (PWD) H.P. was the Chief Guest and Kirnesh Jung, MLA was the guest of honour.

ScCongress.Naha.18.11 (10)The State Council has also invited exhibition from National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, Dehradun. The 16 Selected students at the State Level will participate in National Children’s Science Congress scheduled to be held at Baramati w.e.f. 27-31 Dec, 2016. Two students will participate at Indian Science Congress – 2017 at Tirupati w.e.f. January 3-7, 2017. The remaining prize winners will be taken on for excursion visit by the State Council.
