Yet another Golden Chapter has been added to the history of Loreto Convent Tara Hall School Shimla, as it inaugurated it first STEAM Lab (Artificial Intelligence) here today.

It will not be wrong to say that the STEAM Lab is a classroom of the future where students create their understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). This space allows for integrating curriculum rather than isolating which corresponds to a constructivist approach to learning. One of the best things about STEAM is that it enables the students to discover the artists within them. Take, for instance, creating seed necklaces or building the same bridge with ice-cream sticks are not only just science-based but also promote artistic expressions among children.

Speaking on the occasion, former School Principal, Sister A Nirmala expressed her excitement and gratitude towards the Mind Grind Robotics that helped in making this distant dream become a reality without government aid. She hoped that this initiative will change the course of the future as children will be trained with skills and they will have a vast set of opportunities in front of them, to choose from.

“I think our education system should provide our younger generation an experiential learning platform towards a life of integrated values, fresh innovations and social sensibility. The lessons that they learn indoor must broaden their consciousness towards higher integrity of head, heart and hands. Only then we will find more meaningfulness in our collaborative work than in our individual successes,” she added further.

The Lab was inaugurated by the Deputy Director Higher Education Sonia Thakur, who was very pleased with the setup and believed that this small initiative will have a great and far-reaching impact in the lives of students as learning in an innovative way which will not only make it fun but easy to understand as well.

Aman Kumar and Aditya Sharma, Co-Founder-Directors of Mind Grind Robotics said that it was a great opportunity to set up such Labs in a private school though they have already set up a number of labs before as well in Himachal but all of them were in government institutes. They have trained the staff in school to run the equipment and guide students further. As AI is the future, starting at the school level will have a better impact and make children fully equipped to embrace their future with open arms. (CLICK TO SEE ALL VIDEOS)

Various tools and components like multi-meter, solder, drone, 3D printer, circuits, display screen, hand robots were exhibited that projected that the school is all set to make a mark in history as it is the only school that has such facility and depending upon the success rate, other branches might soon get their personal Labs established as well.

During the occasion, School Principal Sister Goretti, school staff, Father T. Raj were present too.
