While presiding over the 242nd meeting of the Board of Directors of Khadi and Village Industries Board, Himachal Pradesh, Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan directed to encourage more and more unemployed youth, artisans, weavers etc. to set up micro and small industrial units under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme. He appreciated the Board for achieving the target set for the year 2023-24 under the Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme.
The Industry Minister directed to hold a review meeting of all the implementing agencies like Khadi and Village Industries Board, District Industries Center and Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Industries so that more employment opportunities can be created for the youth of the state.
Approval was given to pay a total of Rs. 89.09 lakh to 14 retired employees of the Board including pending retirement benefits from the year 2020. Apart from this, the Board of Directors decided to provide a special discount of 20% on Khadi products from 2nd October on Gandhi Jayanti.
Principal Secretary Industries R.D. Nazeem, Chief Executive Officer Khadi and Village Industries Board, Prashant Sarkaik and other senior officers of Khadi Board were present in the meeting.
