Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while chairing a meeting with delegations from the National Rural Livelihood Mission and the Himachal Pradesh ‘Pashu Evam Krishi Sakhi Sangh,’ emphasized the State Government’s firm commitment to strengthening the rural economy. Special focus is being given to promoting natural farming across the state.

For the first time, the government has fixed Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key natural farming products including milk, wheat, maize, and turmeric. The MSP for maize has been increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 per kilogram, and for wheat from Rs. 40 to Rs. 60 per kilogram, benefiting lakhs of farmers engaged in natural farming.

The Chief Minister announced that the state will soon commence purchasing raw turmeric at Rs. 90 per kilogram under the brand name ‘Himachali Haldi’ to encourage its cultivation. So far, over 1.58 lakh farmers practicing natural farming have been certified in Himachal Pradesh.

He also highlighted the launch of the e-commerce portal ‘Him-Ira,’ which facilitates the sale of products made by women self-help groups. Products available on Him-Ira are gaining popularity not only within the state but also in markets outside.

CM Sukhu assured the delegations that their demands would be sympathetically considered and appropriate actions will be taken to address their concerns.

This initiative reflects the government’s dedicated approach towards sustainable rural development and empowering farmers through natural farming and market linkages.
