In light of the ongoing monsoon season and emerging weather-related challenges, Revenue, Horticulture, and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi chaired a high-level review meeting today to assess the state’s monsoon preparedness. Senior officials from the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board, SDRF, and the Revenue Department participated in the session.
Minister Negi emphasized the importance of readiness at the district level and directed all departments to stay alert and responsive. He particularly highlighted the need for strict monitoring of dam safety in the districts of Mandi, Kullu, and Kangra, where large dams are situated. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of these districts have been instructed to take stringent action under the Dam Safety Act and Disaster Management Act against any violations of safety protocols.

Heavy rainfall has affected Kangra and Mandi, with restoration work underway. A total of 234 roads damaged by landslides are being restored, and all national highways remain open.

968 power transformers have been disrupted due to inclement weather; repairs are in progress.

23 drinking water schemes under Jal Shakti have been impacted; restoration is ongoing to reduce inconvenience to residents.

A flash flood was reported in Sarpara (Rampur), but no casualties occurred.
Minister Negi instructed the State Disaster Management Authority to respond swiftly to any emerging situation and ensure full operational readiness of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), for which budget provisions have already been made. Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) have also been directed to remain on high alert across the state.
The Minister urged tourists to strictly follow weather-related advisories and avoid going near rivers and streams during this season.
